Description
A peristaltic metering pump, also commonly known as a roller pump, is a positive displacement pump for pumping various fluids. The fluid is contained in flexible tube fitted inside a circular pump casing. Fluid is fed through the tube by rollers that rotate squeezing the flexible tube against the pump housing. As the roller moves over the tube, it expands and creates a vacuum to allow more fluid to enter. During operation, at least one roller closes the tube. Therefore the need for valves is eliminated. The rollers are turned either directly by a motor or by a gearbox.
The pump tube is uniquely managed to give flexibility, chemical resistance and prolonged pump life in a fair, plasticizer/oil-free tubing product. It is resistant to a wide range of solutions that typically destroy PVC products. Its chemical resistance enables it to be used in applications with destructive chemicals such as polar solvents.
